Originally formed in the mid 1970's, Sundance played music up and down the East Coast until the early 1980's.  Although band members stayed true to their musical roots throughout the years, the band did not play any music together until 2016 when original members Karen Cappelli, George Wehrlin, David Smith and Michael Gleason started getting together on Sunday afternoons to play some music, have a few drinks, and reminisce.   At the time, there weren't any real intentions of playing out in the club scene, but they eventually reached out to Norm Thibeault to come down and play and the band was complete.  Sundance took the stage for the first time in about 35 years for a charity event which led to them getting back into playing live shows again.   After several iterations of the band, Chris Carlow was recruited to play lead guitar and Dan Albro on drums.  Sundance now plays regularly throughout Rhode Island, Northeast Connecticut and Southeast Massachusetts performing vocal driven music from the 1970's to 1990's.

Karen Cappelli

Karen Cappelli

Vocalist Karen Cappelli was the lead singer in the original Sundance and hasn't lost a step.  She brings her powerful voice,  range and years of experience to the stage, impressively belting out songs in the way only she can do while also playing keyboards.  Her musical journey began with Sundance but her resume includes singing with The Buzz, Truth to the Rumor, The Tom Enright Band and the Jackie B. Orchestra.

George Wherlin

George Wherlin

Bass player George Wherlin is the other original member of Sundance.  His steady presence holds the bottom end of the band together providing a strong tight backbone for the band.  George continued his bass playing with Radiostar after Sundance before touring the world as a sound technician with the likes of Joe Cocker and Meatloaf.

Norm Thibeault

Norm Thibeault

Norm Thibeault shares the lead vocal responsibilities with Karen and plays rhythm guitar.  After playing in the late 70's and early 80's with Toys and The Shades, he was recruited to play in the Buzz where he and Karen first met and spent 4 years playing the New England club scene.  Norm was "re-recruited" by Karen in 2016 to play for Sundance.

Dan Albro

Dan Albro

On drums, Dan Albro who played with George Wehrlin in Radiostar, is one of the newest members of the band who joined in 2023.  Danny's aggressive drumming style creates a driving danceable tempo to the music that's hard to sit down to.  Dan also contributes on vocals to help create the strong harmonies the band is known for.  Fun fact...Dan and his wife travel the world teaching country line dancing when he's not playing drums for Sundance.

Chris Carlow

Chris Carlow

Also joining the band in 2023, on lead guitar Chris Carlow can do it all.  His diverse musical background includes numerous country bands, Not for Nuthin' Band, Mother Bogart and Loki where he's played every style of music imaginable.  He continues to expand his repertoire with the Sundance style of music, while also contributing vocal harmonies.
